hi, dropping by just to post this mix i put together if anyone's interested. it's somewhat similar in tone to the last one i posted here a while back but pretty much techno orientated (though some songs tread towards more "idm"ish territory..) would be curious to hear yr thoughts, especially anyone who doesn't usually listen to electronic type stuff. i reckon it's pretty listener friendly but maybe my ears have just been corrupted. funny a few years back i woulda slapped you for trying to force this music upon me. funny when you find yr musical taste splintering off in a million different directions at the one time and yr head can barely keep up. was thinking of heading to see partyline and michael mayer this week but instead did/doing neither. saw the blow last night for the third time in a week and she was still great

couple of songs and artwork from local freakpop wunderkid francis plange, who is doing a live set on the new experimental music show SET on ABC TV. TONIGHT! 10PM! this show sounds like it could be really great, it has a good lineup in the coming weeks...

Francis Plagne is a young buck from Melbourne of whom it has been said “has the sensibility of a middle-aged musicologist and the free-form enthusiasm of a teenage music nerd”! Who are we to argue? In 2005 Francis Plagne released his first full-length recording on Synaesthesia records. The album, “Idle Bones” is divided into a three-part narrative with mythic song chapters, such as Idle Bones / Sinking Ships and The Ballad of the Boars. Musically it blends melodic pop with abstract sound. Plagne assembles a strange, dreamlike mixture of pop fragments interspersed with electronics,improvisations and clunky percussive/mechanical interludes. He and his three band members from Melbourne make a racket with various gadgets, junk, percussion, electronics and then let the chaos subside as another miniature pop masterpiece takes shape.

so... something different. a mix for you made by me. on garageband (!!!) which is not really the ideal, but it's alls i got (if someone wants to shoot me a copy of ableton live or whatev for os x i wouldn't be complainin)

sora is some pretty japanese stuff from a few years ago // prefuse's show the other week was very weak, but i still luvs him // i know nothing about department des aigles, except the little fucked up vocal sample towards the end kills me// ghislain poirier is some canadian guy who's been making some pretty nice fucked up hip hop sounds lately // the knife are the most incredible thing in the world. anyone know when their new album is getting a release here? i been waiting forever! finally gave up on being patient and started downloading it all yester // this knife remix of stina nordenstam is possibly even better that what i've heard of the record. godamn i love their messed up/down vocal stylings // dunno about errors, but i love this version of their song by konx-om-pax (whose artwork is really beautiful too) // differnet is some fine swedish electropop via fluxblog // the sweet trip song is a classic in my books, minus the silly shoegaze ending which i chopped out // milosh is a bit too emotronic in parts, but this song is pretty cause the sooky vocals get completely submerged beneath the lush electronics
